The adult parade in Bartica. The festival of Mashramani takes place on the 23rd of February, which is also Republic Day in Guyana. From the Amerindian word, "Mashirimehi", it is a time of celebration after a community comes together to accomplish an important job, like harvesting cassava or building a house. For Mash there are parties, parades, costumes and floats and of course lots of dancing!
