The flat iron plate thing is a tawa. Guyanese use it to make roti and other types of flat bread. It serves as our toaster, grill cheese and tortilla maker as well. The canary (not the pot but the pan on the right) is a typical kitchen cook ware. It behaves sort of like a wok and amazingly nothing sticks to it! I think the tawa and the canary are two of my favorite things about cooking in Guyana.
