Cayman are fairly common in the low marshy areas of Guyana. The locals call them alligators but are actually cayman. I have no idea what the differences are, but if the plaque at the Georgetown zoo says they are cayman, then they are cayman. This is a picture of a cayman that was caught in a swampy area in the forest only about three blocks from our house.
